Implementations in MTSS Frameworks

Reading is a challenge for many students, creating a learning disadvantage that deepens over time.  A multi-tiered system of support framework fosters reading improvement through screening, targeted interventions, progress monitoring, and decision-making across all levels of instruction.

BrightFish Reading is a research-based, online program for below-level readers in grades 2 through high school. Students develop independent reading skills through structured, self-paced learning that builds automatic text processing for improved fluency and comprehension. Contextual vocabulary instruction strengthens word knowledge and understanding of connected text.

How BrightFish Reading fits into MTSS:

Tier 1 Core Support: reading foundations (grades 2-3); at-risk (grades 4-8): 60 minutes per week.

Tier 2 Supplemental: small group intervention (grades 2-10): 60-90 minutes per week with weekly data chats.

Tier 3 Intensive:
small group and individual intervention programs (grades 2-10): 90 minutes per week with weekly data chats and action plans.
